Reflecting on Workplace Transformation - the seminar

Context

The perennial challenge for business leaders is how to make decisions about the future of their workplaces when all of their knowledge is in the past. With so many factors contributing to business outcomes, affecting risk and opportunity, how urgently do we need to understand these and gear up for inevitable change?

In today’s fast-moving, digital age of shifting work practices, there’s no longer any room for business support leaders to make decisions based on past experience, gut reaction or conventional wisdom.

Event feedback

It was by far the best seminar that I have attended for a number of years and gave me some great ‘food for thought’ looking forward. You assembled an excellent line up of varied and extremely interesting speakers with contrasting delivery styles and approaches to the subject. I feel the subject matter was applicable to managers with an interest in people across all sectors and I look forward to the next seminar.

Risks and Opportunities

We would contend that organisations who fail to equip themselves, with the strategic analytic thinking and planning to combat the challenges, risk stagnation. Worse, they will be exposed to solving the wrong problems – albeit very well.

This goes far beyond data-driven physical space design. A uniform analytic approach is required across all HR, IT, and Property investment decisions, together with the same analytic approach to shifting management culture and mindsets.

Seminar programme

Workplace Transformation – the seminar, sought to identify urgency and preparation for change.

On the 19th of February, we welcomed a group of executives keen to hear our case. Our knowledge partners introduced perspectives on:

  • the places where work happens
  • the people and the organisation’s joint purpose – profit+
  • why human factors and the new talent pool are more critical than ever
  • how porosity supports knowledge transfer
  • investing in change – funding and corporate finance
  • occupancy and performance data acquisition
  • a platform for change where quantitative and qualitative intelligence can be modelled to produce a measurable strategy

All unpacked in a peer relevant, convivial environment. We even found time to sample and vote on gourmet coffees. Seminar delegates decided that the clear winner in our coffee tasting was the markedly milder of the two options: a blend which is complex, has a juicy body and sweetness throughout.

The basic idea behind our #flatpackevents series is to unpack our own insight, and that of our knowledge partners, to deliver useful content to organisations facing change.
