There is a growing body of scientific evidence that says we all sit too much and it is harming our health. We need to move more and sit less. Yet it can be tricky to achieve this if your job involves being sat down in front of a computer for 8 hours a day during the week.
A shift toward more active working
Many people are choosing to adopt a more active style of working to improve their health and wellbeing.
Active working can involve taking the stairs instead of the lift or scheduling standing meetings instead of seated ones. However, the cornerstone of active working programmes often involves transitioning from a traditional desk to a height-adjustable one. Then you can choose to sit or stand as you work.
The sit-stand working movement is in its infancy in Britain but our Nordic neighbours already love it! Over 90% of office workers using computers in Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark are doing so at Sit-Stand desks.
