Storage for staff

Many Visualsoft staff cycle, jog or take public transport to work. It’s particularly important for those members of staff to have places for their bike helmets and other gear. However, Visualsoft employees work in a very agile way. They are not bound to their desks. If they were, individual desk pedestals would be a conventional storage option.

Creative and cost-effective concept

So we looked to Lion Steel, who have been manufacturing high-quality storage products for over 50 years. Their response to our enquiry was enthusiastic and they helped us achieve a twist on an otherwise standard product. The result was an eye-catching mix and match installation using their “off the shelf” Probe lockers. Whereby all white carcasses were accentuated with black, red and yellow doors of different sizes.

We built the lockers into walls that divided spaces within the core areas. Nothing was taller than 1500mm to maintain a good eye line and also for convenience. It’s easy to temporarily park stuff on top of the locker clusters while storing other belongings.

Fun and functional

Situating them where we did in the core areas was also a design opportunity. What could have been a dull but functional corridor benefits from the strong visual interest of the multi-coloured locker doors.
